Panic and terror
Unshakable sense of dread
Is the oven on?
Good morning, Sunshine
You were up late yesterday
How well did you sleep?
I’m not an introvert
But I’m a little introverted
When I’m not reticent
I’ll give you my two cents
I’m a barrel of laughs
But I fly my flag at half staff
So leave me alone
When I’m feeling lonely
And be there when I need you
Because I’m needy and I need you
Please don’t go
When I let my heart show
It might be black as oil
But so is fertile soil
And–
And now I’ve said too much.
Sorry about that.
Before
Always remember
As the sun surely rises
The sun always sets
After
The sun still rises
Just as surely as it sets
Does it still matter
Quietly comes the breeze
Quietly through the trees
Quietly a girl weeps
Quietly daddy sleeps
Quietly bends the limb
Quietly the day dims
Quietly, now. Quietly.
You called again last night
And I let my phone ring
I wanted to answer
And tell you I’m ok
But I’ve just never been
Able to lie to you
You know what they say, right?
How a man’s life flashes
Before his very eyes?
His past and his present?
Well, I only saw you.
I guess they were right.
“Wait!” Just breathe. “Don’t jump!”
I’m here now. “Take my hand!” Breathe.
“We’ll go together.”
Your hand is enough
I just can’t be that cruel
I can’t take your heart
Bright, smiling faces
Frown only on the inside
Better tomorrows
