Split down the middle
A broken mind, a torn heart
Tired, cloven feet
But mighty horns to protect
From those who get too close

500 Posts! 🥳

Hello, Friends!

Last time, I posted my 500th post to Hastily-Made Decision, so I thought I would take a moment to acknowledge this milestone with a little update about what I’ve been up to and what projects I’m currently working on.

If you’ve been reading my stuff for a while, you’ll know that haiku-style poems have been the bread-and-butter of my writing for quite some time, but recently I’ve been writing tanka-style pieces. The recent change actually comes with a bit of a reason and it all starts with…

…I published a book!

I compiled last year’s poems into one place so that they aren’t spread out over so many blog entries, but if you’ve been reading my stuff for a while these poems will be familiar to you. If you’re interested in picking up a copy to support me and my little poetry, Smiling For The Sky is available in both paperback and Kindle formats.

I was motivated to publish this collection for a few reasons. I’ve been going through some life changes over the course of the last 18 months and I’ve done some reflecting on where I’m at in my life. I’ve realized the “I’ll do that eventually” things in my life aren’t going to do themselves. One of those things was to publish a book.

So I did that.

However, my goals don’t stop there. Working on publishing this little book has been something of a proof-of-concept and stepping stone into working on other projects that I’ve wanted to do… but that I’d “do eventually.”

To that end, Hastily-Made Decision is still my workspace for my poetry. Hence the tanka-style stuff I’ve been writing just recently. I have another poetry project in mind and I’m excited to see how it evolves over the course of this year. I’m also excited to say that I’m working on two not-poetry things: a fantasy serial and a horror short story. There will be more information on those at a later date!

Thanks for reading my update and I hope you continue to enjoy reading my little poems!
