Trickle of moist
Beads like mercury
As salt and spit mix
With the crimson flow
The iron poison
The elixir of life
Out of a wound
Self-inflicted
By an enamel dagger
Treachery and betrayal
Trickle of moist
Beads like mercury
As salt and spit mix
With the crimson flow
The iron poison
The elixir of life
Out of a wound
Self-inflicted
By an enamel dagger
Treachery and betrayal
Dripping foam,
Down from below,
Pools in red,
Around my fingers.
A yellow sky
Blots out the moon,
As a field of Daffodils
Cries out a sad song.
The dreamstate ends,
And is soon forgotten,
And is replaced
By yet another dreamstate.
Each a link
In the unbroken chain
Of waking
And of dreaming.
